Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families across Towson, Lutherville, Baltimore, and surrounding areas. This role offers autonomy, compassionate end-of-life care, and a flexible career path outside the traditional clinic.

The position emphasizes independent travel to client homes, clinical independence, and a focus on quality-of-life decisions, euthanasia, and aftercare while maintaining professional standards and strong family

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the applicable state(s).
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel between appointments.
• Ability to work independently in a mobile veterinary setting.
• Strong communication and empathy during sensitive end-of-life conversations.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, pain management, and euthanasia.
• Travel independently to scheduled in-home visits in a mobile care environment.
• Perform exams, assessments, medications, sedation, and euthanasia in home settings.
• Educate families on quality-of-life decisions and end-of-life options with empathy.
• Maintain accurate veterinary records for each patient encounter.
• Collaborate with Heartstrings team and referred veterinarians as needed.
• Handle animals safely and assist with mobility in home environments.
• Demonstrate professionalism and clinical judgment while working in the field.
• Uphold Heartstrings’ values of Compassion, Dignity, Respect.
