Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is actively hiring veterinarians to provide in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and compassionate euthanasia across Maryland. This role emphasizes professional autonomy, strong family-centered care, and meaningful interactions without the constraints of a traditional clinic setting.

Veterinarians will travel to clients’ homes, perform exams, manage pain and symptoms, and support families through difficult decisions while maintaining high clinical

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the state(s) of service or eligibility.
• U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel for in-home visits.
• Ability to work independently and with empathy during sensitive conversations.
• Willingness to participate in rotational weekend scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and euthanasia.
• Independently travel to scheduled appointments and work in a mobile veterinary setting.
• Perform physical exams, clinical assessments, medication administration, sedation, and euthanasia.
• Guide families through quality-of-life decisions with empathy and clear communication.
• Maintain accurate veterinary records and documentation for each encounter.
