Heartstrings Pet Hospice in Maryland is seeking In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families in Glen Burnie, Elkridge, and surrounding areas.

Join a doctor-led, privately held practice with no non-compete, self-managed scheduling, and autonomy to provide compassionate end-of-life care at home.

This role emphasizes empathy, clinical judgment, and work-life balance as you provide hospice, palliative care, and gentle euthanasia in clients' homes.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be provided.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to travel between appointments.
• Ability to work independently as a mobile veterinarian.
• Demonstrated empathy and professionalism in end-of-life conversations.
• Willingness to participate in rotational weekend scheduling.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; physical requirements of home visits.
• Background and motor vehicle record checks required.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, pain and symptom management, and compassionate euthanasia services.
• Independently travel to scheduled appointments and operate in a mobile veterinary care setting.
• Perform exams, clinical assessments, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and related services.
• Educate families on quality-of-life decisions and aftercare options with empathy.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each encounter.
• Communicate professionally with families, Heartstrings team, and referring veterinarians.
• Safely handle and assist with movement of companion animals during visits.
• Maintain professionalism, clinical independence, and reliable judgment in the field.
