Job summary

Duke University Health System's Duke HomeCare & Hospice in Durham seeks a registered nurse to provide professional nursing care in patients' homes or hospice facilities, following NC Board of Nursing standards.

This role emphasizes comprehensive care planning, patient/family education, and collaborative care with an interdisciplinary team. Travel to patient residences is required; valid NC RN licensure and BLS certification are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required.
• Current North Carolina RN Licensure or compact RN licensure.
• BLS Certification, may be recertified during orientation.
• Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance coverage required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care per nursing process and NC nurse practice act.
• Assess educational needs of patients and families and plan education.
• Develop and implement discharge plans to begin at service initiation.
• Delegate and supervise care provided by NCA/LPNs and aides; coordinate with the healthcare team.

Education

Associate Degree or Diploma, Nursing required

BSN encouraged after two years of service
