Position: Import & Export Coordinator (based in Elgin, Illinois)

This role serves as the primary contact for internal stakeholders (Warehouse, Supply Chain, Customer Success) and external vendors on all import and export activities. The Coordinator ensures compliance with customer requirements and company objectives amid increasing international logistics complexity (e.g., tariffs).

Key responsibilities include:

1. Serving as contact for carriers/brokers, facilitating timely North American Customs clearance
2. Preparing export documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and responding to customer requests for certificates of origin and HTS codes
3. Supporting inbound & outbound shipments and participating in warehouse operations to ensure compliance
4. Communicating with manufacturing and warehouse teams regarding order and shipment statuses
5. Creating and maintaining procedures related to import/export compliance
6. Auditing import shipments and implementing improvements as needed
7. Staying updated on import/export regulations and serving as a Subject Matter Expert
8. Analyzing freight databases to identify cost-saving opportunities
9. Resolving discrepancies and customer complaints related to import/export
10. Participating in continuous improvement initiatives
11. Supporting product management with HTS, CoO, ECCN for new products
12. Obtaining quotes and sourcing transportation methods, managing costs
13. Other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics or equivalent experience
• 3-4 years experience with international trade regulations preferred
• Experience with import/export documentation and trade law required
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to coordinate complex tasks, resolve conflicts, and deal with ambiguity
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP experience a plus
