Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a State Eligibility Consultant to join the Family Resources division, with work onsite in Marion County. You will review eligibility information, determine benefit eligibility, and conduct interviews with SNAP, TANF and Medicaid applicants.

Starting pay is $19.30 per hour with potential for commensurate education and experience. The role includes a full benefits package, paid leave, retirement programs, and opportunities to contribute to Indiana's public services.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of public assistance policy, practices, and procedures.
• Working knowledge of computerized eligibility systems.
• Demonstrates effective interview and communication skills.
• Ability to be flexible and self-motivated in managing multiple priorities.
• Ability to use tact and empathy in dealing with varied backgrounds.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

• Review all eligibility information and recommendations.
• Make an eligibility determination for benefits and waivers.
• Examine data matches for inconsistencies.
• Approve claims calculated by the Contractor.
• Conduct full eligibility interviews for SNAP, TANF and Medicaid.
• Keep current on changes in rules and guidelines.
