Chicago Public Schools is hiring a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with disabilities under the direction of licensed teachers. The role includes tutoring, personal care, and assisting with daily living skills as part of IEP goals.

The position requires an ISBE paraprofessional license (TASN) or equivalent, plus 60 college credits or a paraprofessional exam. CPR training is desirable; CPR may be required later.

Formación

• Good knowledge of the characteristics of students with various disabilities.
• Good knowledge of English grammar and spelling.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and maintain basic written reports.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in instruction of students with various disabilities under supervision of a Special Education teacher.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support as required by IEPs.
• Assist in daily living skills and arrange tools/equipment for students with disabilities.
• Accompany students on class trips and help maintain records of student behavior.
