Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with disabilities under the direction of a licensed teacher. Duties include tutoring, personal care, and assisting with instructional activities aligned to IEPs.

The role requires a valid ISBE paraprofessional license (TASN) or eligibility, plus ability to work with diverse learners in a Southwest Side school setting. On-site duties with some mobility and support tasks.

Qualifications

• Valid TASN paraprofessional license from ISBE or eligible to apply.
• 60 semester hours of college credit or equivalent.
• Knowledge of students with various disabilities and related instructional needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with disabilities under supervision.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and support for IEP goals.
• Assist with daily living activities and personal care as required.
• Assist in feeding, hygiene, and mobility tasks.
• Maintain records of student behavior and progress.
• Supervise students during trips and classroom activities.
