Promise Resource Network Inc. seeks a Shelter Plus Care Peer Support Specialist in Charlotte, NC. This full-time role uses SAMSHA’s Wellness framework to help residents maintain tenancy and live independently, guided by lived recovery experience.

You will work with case managers and housing staff to promote stability, housing success, and community integration. You will provide emotional support, facilitate wellness groups, assist with documents and entitlements, and advocate for residents’

Competenze

• Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist or eligible to become certified
• Ability to receive guidance, training, and mentoring to grow skills and knowledge
• Demonstrates leadership by modeling PRN’s mission, values, philosophy, and guidance to team members

Mansioni

• Assist residents in understanding and complying with lease agreements and housing rules.
• Promote literacy of the lease and any other agreements to secure housing.
• Support peers in resolving tenancy issues, including landlord disputes and rent arrears.
• Assist peers in obtaining vital documents such as birth certificates or IDs.
• Promote independent living skills like budgeting and home maintenance.
• Identify resources to cover security deposits, moving costs, and furnishings.
• Maintain regular face-to-face contact to ensure a safe living environment.
• Use lived experience with recovery to build trust and supportive relationships.
• Provide emotional support and hope to residents facing MH/SA challenges.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate peer-led wellness groups and PRN Hub coverage.
• Support peers in developing personalized wellness and crisis plans.
• Advocate for residents’ rights within housing and mental health systems.
• Encourage self-advocacy and community connections.
• Educate residents on tenant rights and local supports.
• Work with case managers, clinicians, housing staff, and partners.
• Attend multidisciplinary meetings for holistic care planning.
• Maintain confidential, timely documentation of services.
• Engage in trauma-informed care and harm reduction training.
• Assist accessing entitlements like SSI/SSDI and Medicaid.
