Job summary

Roof Above is seeking a dedicated Shelter Specialist to support daily shelter operations in Charlotte, NC. You will facilitate a trauma-informed, person-centered environment, coordinate bed assignments, and assist guests with basic needs while coordinating with case managers and partners.

The role requires strong communication, patience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days is preferred, with a commitment to inclusive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days.
• Experience with homeless populations or shelters preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic needs assistance to shelter guests.
• Coordinate bed assignments, smoke breaks, and daily routines.
• Maintain a trauma-informed, respectful environment for services.
• Complete data entry, incident reports, daily log, and related paperwork.
• Communicate effectively with case managers and agency partners.
