Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Problem Resolution Specimen Technician working Tuesday to Saturday, 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The role focuses on identifying and solving issues in processing and testing laboratory specimens, collaborating with Specimen Processing, Referral Testing, and Technical departments to expedite results.

The position requires strong written and verbal communication, proficiency with MS Office and LIS, and adherence to safety and compliance policies.

Qualifications

• Internal candidates must have a minimum of one year in Specimen TechIII/related role.
• Preferred: minimum of 3 years lab experience, preferably in a production environment.
• Medical background with terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary point-of-contact for resolution of common specimen problems and communicate with internal departments to avoid delays.
• May call clients to obtain resolution of problems.
• Demonstrate competency in Specimen Processing problem resolution and SOPs.
• Interpret specimen tracking data using available resources (logs, LIS, automation, instrumentation).
• Understand compliance policies related to test ordering, reporting, add-on tests, reflex tests, and custom panels.
