Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools Hough Elementary in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator for Life Skills 1:1 support. The role is 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year, and it's a one-on-one position with a non-exempt status.

Starting immediately, you will support students with disabilities under teacher supervision. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, and may provide official transcripts or ParaPro results as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and one of the following: official transcripts for an Associate's degree or 72 quarter/48 semester credits from an accredited institution; or ETS ParaPro Assessment score of 461+
• One year of related experience with children in education preferred
• Experience in educational team environments and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to de-escalate and support students with disabilities as needed
• Must complete CPI and de-escalation/physical restraint training soon after hiring

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in implementing and evaluating goals on individual student IEPs
• Provide instructional assistance in basic life skills, social skills, and classroom activities
• Support behavior management and ensure student safety during activities
• Dispense medication following district policy
• Maintain confidentiality and collaborate with staff and families
