ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly qualified Intervention Specialist at East Academy in Cleveland, Ohio dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. The role focuses on supporting students with an IEP, promoting academic achievement and social-emotional development, and collaborating with teachers to ensure inclusive practices.

The Intervention Specialist conducts diagnostic and functional behavior assessments, writes behavior improvement plans, and facilitates IEP meetings.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience in full-room inclusion or Co-Teaching in a Resource Room model.
• Growth-focused coaching environment with frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
• High quality written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Ability to pass federal and state background checks (FBI/BCI).
• Experience in a multi-cultural setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with classroom teachers, interpreting abilities and disabilities and assist in intervention strategies.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments.
• Write and implement behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP Meetings and write IEP goals and objectives.
• Relentlessly work to meet all goals related to student achievement and culture.
• Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction.
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions.
• Serve as advisor for a designated set of students.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and social-emotional growth.
• Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
