Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Intervention Specialist for Cleveland Preparatory Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. The role focuses on supporting students with IEP goals, including diagnostic and behavioral assessments, IEP planning, and collaboration with teachers to implement effective interventions.

The candidate should have experience with inclusive/co-teaching models, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage responsibilities in a bustling K-8 environment within ACCEL Schools’ network.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience in full room inclusion or Co-Teaching in a Resource Room model.
• Growth-focused coaching using frequent observations and progress monitoring.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks (FBI/BCI).
• Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with classroom teachers, interpreting abilities and disabilities, assisting in intervention strategies and modifying general education curricula as necessary.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments and write behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals and objectives.
• Relentlessly work to meet all goals related to student achievement and culture and state-specific goals.
• Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction.
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching into daily lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Serve as advisor for a designated set of students.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and social-emotional growth.
• Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips.
