Knowledge Services in Gary, IN seeks an Eligibility Specialist to assist Indiana residents with public assistance programs (TANF, SNAP, Medicaid). Responsibilities include data gathering, verification, document collection, and eligibility determinations using state systems.

Qualified candidates have 2 years in social services or government settings, strong communication, and proficient computer skills; a related degree is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience in a social service environment, state or local government is desired pertaining to employment / training programs.
• Prefer a Bachelor or Associate degree in Counseling or Social Services, but High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong written and verbal skills, solid computer skills, and customer service background.

Responsibilities

• Gather data for all relevant assistance programs face-to-face or via phone with clients
• Verify information meets state policies
• Obtain release forms and medical records as needed
• Verify income, assets, and other financial / legal documents
• Review regulations and program requirements with clients
• Utilize automated program to determine eligibility of state assistance programs
• Data entry into state database
• Respond to inquiries via phone or email
