Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking a Medical Technician (Laboratory Support) to perform a broad range of clinical laboratory tests and support quality assurance efforts in American Indian communities.

The role involves specimen collection, operation and maintenance of instruments, and reporting results to healthcare providers while adhering to CAP/CLIA safety guidelines and agency policies.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of general experience or equivalent relevant to laboratory support work.
• Six (6) months of specialized experience performing clinical laboratory tests and reporting findings.
• Education alternatives include an associate degree with a year of certified lab assistant training, or related combinations.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking tests.
• Evaluate test results and troubleshoot to ensure accuracy.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain instruments; prepare reagents and culture media.
