Job summary

Texas Department of Family Protective Services is seeking a Conservatorship Worker I to manage CPS conservatorship cases, assess child and family needs, and coordinate permanency planning. You will collaborate with families, kinship providers, and legal parties to secure safe, permanent homes.

Responsibilities include court hearings, case documentation, and coordinating services across agencies. Travel for visits and potential after-hours work may be required based on case needs and safety

Qualifications

• Proficiency with computers and office software.
• Willingness to travel for visits after 5pm; on-call rotation.
• Ability to work in emotionally charged environments and adapt to safety concerns.

Responsibilities

• Receives cases from investigators after children are removed and placed in CPS conservatorship.
• Determine each child’s needs and referrals for testing, evaluations, or records.
• Plan for a child’s permanency with families and kinship resources.
• Identify kinship providers and conduct home studies of potential caregivers.
• Meet with parents to assess risk, safety, and progress toward permanency.
• Visit children monthly to assess safety, needs, and progress in care.
• Attend court hearings, prepare reports, and testify on needs and permanency efforts.
• Maintain communication with child, family, caregivers, and legal representatives.
• Collaborate with placement teams to facilitate kinship and foster care placements.
• Ensure continuity of services during reunification and post-adoption processes.
• Document case records thoroughly and timely; maintain professional relationships with stakeholders.
