Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) seeks a Conservatorship Worker to manage CPS cases where children are placed in care. You will assess needs, coordinate services, and work with families, kinship providers, and legal parties to pursue permanency.

The role requires travel up to 60% of the time, court appearances, and strong documentation skills. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, with a Master’s possible for higher placement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required in social science field
• Valid Texas driver's license and reliable vehicle required
• Travel approximately 60% of the time; willingness to conduct home visits and attend court/hearings
• Ability to work in emotionally challenging environments and handle sensitive cases

Responsibilities

• Receives cases from investigators after children are removed from their homes and placed in CPS conservatorship
• Determine child needs and arrange referrals for services, testing, records, or assessments
• Work with families, kinship providers, and legal parties to arrange permanency for the child
• Attend court hearings and prepare reports; testify when required
• Maintain case documentation and coordinate with law enforcement, legal resources, and medical professionals
