Job summary

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) seeks Conservatorship Workers to manage CPS cases where children are in conservatorship. You will assess needs, coordinate services, and partner with families to achieve permanency.

Roles include court involvement, case documentation, and collaboration with kinship and foster caregivers. Position requires travel within the region, strong communication, and a dedication to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development principles and family dynamics.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel to homes and offices within and outside your region (about 60%).
• Experience in social, human or protective services is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Receive cases from investigators after children are removed and placed in CPS conservatorship.
• Assess needs and coordinate referrals for testing, evaluations, or services.
• Visit children monthly to assess safety and plan permanency.
• Collaborate with kinship caregivers and foster parents to support permanency.
• Attend court hearings and prepare reports and testimony as required.
• Maintain case records and communicate with lawyers, guardians ad litem, and other agencies.
