Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. seeks an accomplished Principal Scientist (Director) to lead Immunology Biomarker strategy within Translational Clinical Biomarkers. You will drive strategic biomarker plans linking disease biology, pharmacodynamics, and clinical endpoints to inform development decisions.

The role requires deep scientific expertise, structured decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment, with responsibilities spanning discovery to late-stage programs.

Qualifications

PhD or MD in Immunology with 7+ years immunology experience; MS with 10+ years; or BS with 14+ years in related fields.
Strong expertise in immunology and immune-mediated/inflammatory diseases; experience in at least one area such as Rheumatology.
Demonstrated ability to drive translational strategies and lead cross-functional programs.

Responsibilities

Lead and shape integrated biomarker strategies across discovery, early- and late-stage programs with clear hypotheses and endpoints.
Serve as biomarker strategy lead within cross-functional program teams and governance forums.
Inform portfolio strategy by advancing biomarker-driven insights for target validation and patient selection.
Translate disease biology and mechanism of action into clinically actionable biomarker strategies.
Drive selection and application of innovative biomarker approaches aligned with clinical utility.
