Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. seeks a Principal Scientist (Director) to lead Immunology Biomarker strategies within Translational Clinical Biomarkers.

You will shape integrated biomarker plans across discovery to late-stage programs, linking biology to clinical endpoints and decision-making in a fast-moving setting. The role requires deep immunology expertise, strong data interpretation, and excellent communication to internal teams and external audiences.

Qualifications

PhD or MD in Immunology, Biology, or related STEM with 7+ years in Immunology; MS with 10+ years; or BS with 14+ years.
Autoimmune Diseases R&D and/or translational medicine experience preferred.
Deep expertise in immunology and immune-mediated diseases with relevant specialization.
Proven track record driving translational strategies informing clinical development decisions.
Demonstrated ability to lead matrixed, cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience with biostatistics, bioinformatics, and advanced data analytics.
Experience advancing precision medicine strategies.
