JLW Immigration Law Group in Austin, Texas is looking for a Spanish-speaking Immigration Paralegal with 2+ years of deportation defense and humanitarian relief experience to join a firm that uses dark humor and occasional bad language to stay sane in the current political environment, but always fights hard for their clients in the most professional and ethical way possible.
You will serve as the primary case-management and case-preparation collaborator with the firm's Senior Removal Defense Attorney.
This is not simply a forms-preparation position.
You will take meaningful ownership of case progression: keeping matters organized and moving, preparing high-quality work for attorney review, communicating with clients, coordinating with and delegating effectively to support staff, anticipating what comes next, staying ahead of multiple and ever-changing deadlines, and making sure the attorney is brought in at the right time and with the right information.
Key info about the role:
In this role, you'll manage 100 to 150 cases (not all active cases).
You'll help prepare cases with the Senior Removal Defense Attorney to present in immigration court and BIA proceedings, bond hearings, and interviews before USCIS and EOIR, and communicate with clients to guide them with empathy and professionalism through complex processes.
You’ll be focused on removal work but also manage under attorney supervision a wide range of immigration applications as clients require, including asylum, VAWA, family petitions, waivers, and adjustment of status, as well as helping assist with appeals and federal litigation.

The paralegal is responsible for client management, case preparation, organization, follow-through, and the timely, organized presentation of issues to the attorney.
