Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital is hiring an Immediate Care Technician to support physicians and APPs by managing patient flow and assisting with care activities and related administration. You will promote patient satisfaction, maintain safe exam rooms, and assist with referrals and discharge processes.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, EMT certification or equivalent, BLS, and mandatory certification within six months, plus solid computer skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Within six months, obtain one of CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA or NRCMA certifications.
• EMT-B or EMT-Paramedic certification OR Illinois EMT license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Pre-employment competency exam.

Responsibilities

• Assures efficient patient flow through the site and escorts patients to exam rooms.
• Obtains accurate vital signs and documents visit details, allergies, and pharmacy info.
• Assists MD/APP with procedures (ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, wound care).
• Maintains exam rooms, cleans and stocks supplies, and ensures patient confidentiality.
• Promotes patient satisfaction by professional, friendly interactions and teamwork.
• Performs delegated duties and supports referrals, transfers, and discharge processes.
