Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Immediate Care Technician to support physicians, manage patient flow, and maintain safe, clean exam rooms. You will interact with patients professionally, assist with procedures, and help with referrals and discharge processes.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, EMT-related certification or license, and strong computer skills. BLS and pre-employment testing are required, with on-site responsibilities at the Aurora facility.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Within first six months, complete one of CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/NRCMA certifications.
BLS certification required.
Pre-employment competency exam completion.
Strong computer skills.
Documentation of eligibility for one of five eligible certification exams.

Responsibilities

Ensure efficient patient flow and escort patients to exam rooms.
Obtain accurate vital signs and document visit reason, allergies, and pharmacy information.
Inform MD/APP of significant changes in vital signs or symptoms.
Set up equipment and maintain clean, stocked exam rooms.
Assist with referrals, transfers, and discharge processes.
Assist MD/APP with procedures (ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, wound care, etc.).
Submit prescriptions as directed by MD/APP.
Interact professionally with patients and staff to promote satisfaction.
