MedStar Health in Maryland seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing to lead and supervise unit-based nursing staff, partner with the Director of Nursing, and ensure high-quality, patient-centered care across transitions. The position supports collaborative decision-making, oversees safe patient care, and may require shift leadership responsibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program required.
• Master's degree in Nursing or health-related field preferred.
• 3–4 years progressive nursing care experience required.
• Leadership and management experience preferred.
• RN licensure valid in MD/DC required by entity.
• Specialty certification in clinical area or Nursing Administration preferred.
• CPR (AHA/Red Cross) within 90 days required.
• Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department.

Responsibilities

• Support and collaborate with the Director of Nursing in leadership and oversight.
• Direct and coordinate nursing and patient care delivery on the unit.
• Ensure holistic, culturally competent, patient-centered, quality and safe care.
• Apply nursing process within the shared decision-making framework.
• Manage patient transitions across the continuum of care.
• Assume administrative authority during a specific shift.
• Foster commitment to quality, safety, and cost-conscious care.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and MedStar Health policies.
• Demonstrate alignment with SPIRIT values and ethics.
