Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of instructional practices and delivery related to specially designed instruction.
• Extensive knowledge of general content curriculum standards and age appropriate developmental expectations.
• Considerable knowledge of state and federal policies and procedures overseeing the services of students with disabilities.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Apps.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to protect confidentiality per FERPA and related laws.
• Ability to work in a team and collaborate with others.
• Ability to motivate students.
• Ability to monitor and supervise student safety.
• Ability to recognize and support diverse learners.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities; implements the IEP and updates as needed.
• Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools for specially designed instruction.
• Assists students in completing curriculum tasks and achieving IEP goals.
• Uses a variety of teaching methods, accommodations, and materials to meet student needs.
• Monitors student behavior; maintains classroom discipline and teaches behavioral strategies.
• Evaluates student work and progress; adjusts instruction as needed and coordinates grades.
• Attends IEP meetings as a collaborative team member.
• Keeps abreast of trends and best practices through professional development and collaboration.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
