Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks a dedicated educator to coordinate and deliver special education instruction for students with disabilities. The role focuses on implementing IEPs, tracking progress, and using assessment data to tailor instruction in a collaborative school environment.

You will work with IEP teams, adapt materials, and monitor student safety and growth while aligning with state and federal guidelines. A valid NC teaching license in Exceptional Children’s is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
• Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in an Exceptional Children’s teaching area.
• Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to NC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities; implements the IEP and uses diagnostic information to update IEPs.
• Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools to provide specially designed instruction.
• Assists students in completing curriculum tasks and meeting IEP goals.
• Employs varied teaching methods, accommodations and modifications to meet student needs.
• Monitors student behavior; maintains classroom discipline and teaches behavioral strategies.
• Evaluates student work and coordinates progress report grades.
• Attends IEP meetings and collaborates with the team.
• Stays current on trends and best practices by attending professional development and networking with professionals.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
