Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
• Associate's degree or RRT/Equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the applicable state.
• Credentialed as NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS certification required.
• Advanced certifications per facility policy/standards.
• 2 years critical care experience for ED/Virtual Critical Care settings.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in modes of oxygen delivery and equipment; conducts prescribed therapeutic procedures.
• Administers therapeutic procedures, understands purpose/benefits and potential effects; performs diagnostic procedures per policy.
• Initiates, monitors and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators; aware of critical care duties.
• Evaluates therapies independently, recommends plans of care and patient education.
• Documents therapy and results; communicates with the healthcare team.
• Performs blood sampling analysis and interprets abnormal results.
• Works independently in patient care areas; proficient in EMR and department interface.
• Follows safety guidelines and completes regulatory requirements; annual proficiency in equipment/procedures.

RRT or equivalent credential

NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist credential

Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (state)

Bachelor's degree preferred
