Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Patient Care Tech III to join our nursing team on a 12-hour night shift. You will assist with direct patient care across critical care areas, perform EKGs and POC tests, and support the care team under licensed clinicians.

Responsibilities include monitoring high-risk patients, helping with daily living activities, vital signs, phlebotomy in select locations, and maintaining safety and clear communication to RNs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Communicate observations to the RN in a timely, clear manner.
• Provide constant observation for high-risk patients.
• Help maintain a safe environment and assist with de-escalation as directed.
• Assist patients with daily living activities.
• Assist in moving and repositioning patients using proper safety techniques.
• Maintain patient safety checks and fall-prevention strategies.
• Take and record vital signs and measure height/weight.
• Perform EKGs and Point-of-Care tests; collect specimens.
• Phlebotomy in certain locations.
• Build rapport and respond to patient needs.
• Assist with unit-specific procedures and equipment handling.
• Support RN/LIP with treatments and prepare equipment.
• Monitor intake/output and perform ostomy care as directed.
• Answer phones and relay messages using internal systems.
• Replenish patient and unit supplies.
• Stay current with unit changes via notices and emails.
