Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to join our care team in Worcester, MA. Under licensed clinician supervision, you will assist with direct patient care, monitor vital signs, and support the delivery of compassionate care in a high-demand hospital setting.

Responsibilities include patient observation, basic procedures, and collaboration with RNs and staff to ensure safety and comfort.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• Computer skills required.
• Strong interpersonal skills to support care teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to RNs about patient changes.
• Monitor high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment and de-escalate when needed.
• Assist with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Support treatments and procedures under supervision.
• Record vital signs, intake, and output; assist with specimens and basic tests.
• Assist in positioning patients and ensuring comfort and safety.
• Maintain supplies and assist with unit equipment as needed.
