MedStar Health in Maryland is seeking a Director of Nursing for the Intensive Care Unit (Nurse Manager) to lead the Medical and Neurological ICUs and related patient care services. This role drives clinical excellence, staffing, budgeting, and interdepartmental collaboration to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in Nursing, RN licensure in the state, and leadership experience in nursing management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required.
• Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field is preferred.
• RN license in Maryland or DC (nursing licensure required).
• CPR certification (AHA/Red Cross) within 90 days of hire.
• Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department.

Responsabilités

• Create a professional practice atmosphere and mentoring environment.
• Build collaborative relationships with inter-professional health care team and leaders.
• Establish a safe, therapeutic environment and manage unit budget and resources.
• Provide clinical leadership and model professional practice while pursuing Magnet or Pathways to Excellence.
• Lead change initiatives and manage budget to support organizational objectives.
• Hire, coach, evaluate, and develop associates; promote retention and engagement.
• Develop departmental goals aligned with nursing strategy and performance improvement.
• Monitor performance data, ensure regulatory compliance, and take corrective action as needed.
• Ensure patient-centered care and handle patient/family concerns with care.
• Oversee materials, supplies, equipment, and cost containment; participate in product selection.
• Lead unit orientation, preceptors, and competency programs; provide feedback.
• Performance management and development planning for staff.
