Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current Texas RN license.
• ACLS certification within six (3) months of hire.
• NIHSS certification within six (6) months of hire.
• TNCC/TCAR within six (6) months of hire.
• ENLS certification preferred for NSICU.
• Cross training to like areas.
• Willingness to be trained for charge nurse.
• Willingness to become a preceptor after two years of nursing experience.
• Hospital experience preferred.
• Proficiency in English – verbal and written and computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing care using the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Implements physician orders safely and accurately.
• Assists with admitting, discharging and transferring patients.
• Transcribes and implements new physician orders.
• Maintains detailed and accurate records of nursing actions.
• Provides patient and family education and emotional support.
• Maintains safety and cleanliness; reports changes.
• Administers medications and therapies within nursing scope.
• Coordinates time schedules and unit coverage.
• Adheres to Nurse Practice Act and ANA standards.
