Qualifications

• High School/GED required or equivalent.
• Completion of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology coding courses.
• 1 year hospital/physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.
• Medical Terminology knowledge required.
• Strong data entry skills and familiarity with computer applications.
• Ability to work with the health care team and HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical information to assign ICD-10-CM/ CPT codes.
• Abstract data elements for statistical requests and enter into systems.
• Manage unbilled coding reports to support cash flow.
• Stay updated on ICD-10-CM/CPT changes through training and clinics.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
