Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering Group is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to provide discipline expertise and lead I&C efforts on projects across North America. The role spans independent small projects to large multi-discipline teams, from proposals through construction and commissioning support.

The position offers active mentorship of junior engineers, collaboration with internal and external partners, and involvement in diverse power facilities engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering (ABET accredited).
• PE registration preferred.
• Familiarity with control system programming concepts.
• Experience with SCADA systems and PLC; DCS experience desirable.
• Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for projects of all sizes and levels of complexity.
• Incorporate the requirements of contract and customer RFPs, professional service agreements, or other contractual requirements ensuring the projects meet or exceed project goals.
• Contribute to the development of client proposals and project cost estimates; lead cost, feasibility and planning studies, analyzing customer needs and data with coordination with engineers and vendors.
• Develop and apply a comprehensive understanding of design codes and Kiewit guidelines to oversee and/or perform design calculations, drawings and specifications.
• Formulate and prepare technical specifications, perform bid evaluations of equipment and construction proposals, and coordinate with partners and suppliers.
• Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with project personnel.
• Mentor and direct the work of entry and mid-level engineers; provide guidance and coaching.
• Coordinate with internal and external partners to address electrical/I&C design concepts and concerns.
