Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to lead I&C discipline work on power projects. The role spans independent work on small projects to leadership on large EPC teams, supporting proposals, design execution, and commissioning.

Based in the Tempe/Phoenix area (AZ) with multiple office options, you will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with construction partners, and ensure safe, cost-effective engineering solutions that meet client

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering required.
• PE license (Professional Engineer) preferred.
• Experience with SCADA systems and PLC; DCS experience desirable.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communications and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques for projects of all sizes and levels of complexity.
• Incorporate contract and customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or other contractual requirements to meet project goals.
• Contribute to client proposals and project cost estimates; lead cost, feasibility and planning studies with teams.
• Develop and apply understanding of design methods, codes, and Kiewit guidelines for design calculations and specs.
• Prepare technical specifications, bid evaluations, and equipment selection recommendations; interface with partners.
• Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with project personnel.
• Oversee supplier shop drawing reviews and contract administration; resolve issues.
• Mentor and direct entry and mid-level engineers for skills development.
• Coordinate with internal/external partners on electrical/I&C design concepts and concerns.
