Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation in Hartsville, SC is seeking an able Electrical Design Engineer I or II to join the Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) team. The role supports instrumentation and control systems, relaying, digital systems, network infrastructure, cyber security, and related design changes across the RNP site.

You will research issues, develop specs, provide field support, and revise design basis documents, with supervision appropriate to level.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• A Master 's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Computer or Electrical Engineering.
• Upcoming graduates expecting a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program may also be considered.
• Ability to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance.
• Emergency Response Organization responsibilities and on-call duties may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop the scope, technical basis, installation, and testing requirements for engineering design changes including Instrumentation & Control systems, Relaying, Digital Systems, Network Infrastructure, Cyber Security, and Process Equipment.
• Research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, determine, and present recommendations to resolve issues.
• Provide ongoing support of assigned engineering design changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support activities.
• Develop or revise design specifications or technical requirements documents to support engineering design changes.
• Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by engineering design changes.
• Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by engineering design changes.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program

Master's degree in Engineering in lieu of B.S. in Computer or Electrical Engineering
