Job summary

Duke Energy’s Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering group at the Harris Nuclear Station (HNP) in New Hill, NC, is seeking an I&C Design Engineer III or Senior I&C Design Engineer. The role focuses on instrument control systems design changes, cyber security considerations, and digital/relational system integration.

Travel and site access are required. Qualified candidates have ABET-accredited engineering degrees, nuclear plant experience, and strong communication and project management

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Engineering required (Electrical/Mechanical/related).
• For Electrical Design Engineer III: minimum 4 years engineering experience; 1 year nuclear power plant experience.
• Senior Electrical Design Engineer: 6+ years engineering experience or 5+ years with state PE; 1 year nuclear experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop scope, technical basis, installation and testing requirements for I&C design changes.
• Provide engineering guidance in identification, analysis and resolution of increasingly complex problems.
• Plan, organize, estimate, schedule and monitor work activities; adapt to changing priorities.
• Prepare thorough technical reports, calculations and sketches for well-defined problems.
• Conduct studies and manage projects with increasing independence and impact on existing systems.
