Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Hydropower team, supporting upgrades at hydro facilities across the United States, including Kentucky and surrounding states.

This role leads mechanical design, project executions, bid evaluations, and field support, collaborating with diverse engineers to deliver reliable, efficient power solutions for grid reliability and sustainable energy growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and PE license or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of project execution experience in the Power Market Sector.
• Experience with hydroelectric generating stations and mechanical upgrades.
• Proficiency with NavisWorks, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and related design tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support mechanical balance of plant upgrades at existing hydro facilities.
• Perform equipment sizing, P&IDs, layouts, and system calculations.
• Prepare equipment and design specifications; conduct bid evaluations.
• Lead site inspections, field support during installation, testing and start-up.
• Coordinate multi-discipline teams; manage project budgets and schedules.
• Develop client relationships and contribute to marketing and proposals.
