Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Hydropower team in the United States. The role focuses on mechanical balance of plant upgrades at existing hydropower facilities and feasibility studies for pumped storage projects, supporting a multi‑discipline group of engineers and technicians.

You will produce P&IDs, layouts, and equipment specifications, lead mechanical design tasks, and coordinate with the broader project team to deliver on-time, within budget, and safely.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
• PE license recognized by the licensing board for the position location.
• Minimum experience in Power Market Sector project execution.

Responsibilities

• Produce mechanical system designs including P&IDs and layouts.
• Prepare equipment and design specifications.
• Perform equipment and contractor bid evaluations.
• Provide field support during installation, testing and start-up.
• Coordinate multi-discipline team across project development.
• Estimate project costs and manage budgets.
• Lead mechanical effort on multiple projects.
• Coordinate with Project Manager and other engineers at sites.
