Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Hydropower team, focusing on mechanical balance of plant upgrades and major equipment enhancements at existing hydro facilities across the U.S. You will work with a multi-disciplinary group providing engineering and design services to power sector clients.

Preferred candidates have 5+ years in project execution in the Power Market Sector, leadership experience, and familiarity with 3D design tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• PE license is required or in good standing.
• Minimum 5 years in project execution within the Power Market Sector.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support mechanical balance of plant upgrades at hydro facilities.
• Perform life extension and system upgrade studies.
• Coordinate work with multi‑discipline team and project manager.
• Prepare P&IDs, equipment sizing, layouts, and calculations.
• Support with project cost estimates and client presentations.
• Coordinate workload to meet schedule and budget.
