Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Hydropower team in the United States. You will lead and support projects involving mechanical balance of plant upgrades at existing hydro facilities, as well as feasibility studies for pumped storage projects.

Based in Charlotte, NC, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver life-extension upgrades, equipment design, and field support, while developing leadership and client management skills within a nationally recognized practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• Requires PE or similar professional engineering license.
• Experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
• Proficiency with 3D design tools (NavisWorks, Plant 3D, Revit).

Responsibilities

• Lead and support mechanical upgrades for hydro facilities.
• Develop mechanical designs including P&IDs and system layouts.
• Prepare equipment specifications and bid evaluations.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and track project progress.
• Support field visits, testing, and startup activities.
• Coordinate workload and manage project budget/schedule.
