Job summary

HDR is expanding its Hydropower team and seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead upgrades and feasibility studies across the U.S. You will work with a multidisciplinary group to design mechanical systems, evaluate equipment, and support pumped storage projects.

Required is a Bachelor's in Engineering with PE licensure and 5+ years in the Power Market Sector. The role involves leading projects, performing site work, and coordinating with utilities and EPC teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board for the position location.
  • 5+ years of project execution experience in the Power Market Sector; leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support mechanical balance of plant upgrades at existing hydropower facilities.
  • Oversee mechanical equipment upgrades and feasibility studies for pumped storage projects.
  • Produce P&IDs, equipment sizing, layouts, and system calculations; prepare specifications.
  • Coordinate with multi-discipline teams and manage workload to meet budget and schedule.
  • Coordinate client presentations and contribute to project proposals.
