Job summary

CapTech is seeking a mid-level Test Automation Engineer to join our Quality Engineering practice. You will design, build, and maintain automated test suites for client engagements spanning web, mobile, and API-driven systems.

You will work as an embedded member of cross-functional delivery teams, partnering with developers, business analysts, and client stakeholders to make quality a continuous, measurable part of the software delivery lifecycle rather than a final gate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Three to six years of professional experience in software quality engineering, with at least two years focused on test automation.
• Hands-on experience with at least one modern UI automation tool such as Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Working knowledge of API testing, including REST services, authentication patterns, and contract or schema validation.
• Experience integrating automated suites into a CI/CD pipeline and working comfortably with Git-based version control.
• Solid understanding of agile delivery, the software development lifecycle, and defect management workflows.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain testing decisions to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated functional, regression, and integration test suites for web, mobile, and API layers.
• Build and extend reusable test frameworks using page object, data-driven, and behavior-driven patterns that other engineers can adopt quickly.
• Integrate automated tests into continuous integration and delivery pipelines so that every build produces meaningful quality signals.
• Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to translate acceptance criteria into clear, traceable test scenarios.
• Triage failing tests, isolate root causes, and distinguish product defects from test instability or environment issues.
• Contribute to performance, accessibility, and security testing efforts in partnership with specialist teams.
• Define and report quality metrics such as coverage, defect escape rate, and pipeline stability to both technical teams and client leadership.
• Mentor junior engineers and client team members on automation practices, code review standards, and test design.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, estimation, and sprint planning, advocating for testability in every story.
