Job summary

CapTech seeks a mid-level Test Automation Engineer to join our Quality Engineering practice. You will design, build, and maintain automated test suites for web, mobile, and API-driven systems as part of cross-functional delivery teams.

The role requires adaptability, strong communication, and experience shaping automation strategies across engagements. You’ll work in a consulting setting with varying tech stacks and client environments.

Qualifications

• BS in computer science, information systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–6 years in software quality engineering with at least 2 years in test automation.
• Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language for automation (Java/JavaScript/TypeScript/Python/C#).
• Hands-on experience with modern UI automation tools (Selenium WebDriver/Playwright/Cypress).
• Experience with API testing (REST, auth patterns, contract validation).
• Experience integrating automated suites into CI/CD pipelines; proficient with Git.
• Strong understanding of Agile, SDLC, and defect management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for web, mobile, and API layers.
• Build reusable test frameworks using page object, data-driven, and BDD patterns.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines so each build yields meaningful quality signals.
• Collaborate with product owners and BAs to translate acceptance criteria into tests.
• Triage failing tests, identify root causes, and separate defects from test instability.
• Contribute to performance, accessibility, and security testing with specialist teams.
• Define and report quality metrics to technical teams and client leadership.
• Mentor junior engineers and client team members on automation practices.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, estimation, and sprint planning to improve testability.
