Job summary

CapTech is seeking a mid-level Test Automation Engineer to join our Quality Engineering practice. You will design, build, and maintain automated test suites for web, mobile, and API-driven systems as part of cross-functional delivery teams.

The role emphasizes adaptable automation strategies across projects and collaboration with developers and business analysts to deliver quality within the engagement timeline, with opportunities to contribute to CI/CD pipelines and client-facing work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–6 years of software quality engineering, with at least two years in test automation.
• Proficiency in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or C# for automation.
• Hands-on experience with UI automation tools such as Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Experience with API testing (REST), authentication patterns, and contract/schema validation.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
• Strong communication to explain testing decisions to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated functional, regression, and integration tests for web, mobile, and API layers.
• Build and extend reusable test frameworks using page object, data-driven, and behavior-driven patterns that other engineers can adopt quickly.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines so that every build produces meaningful quality signals.
• Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to translate acceptance criteria into clear, traceable test scenarios.
• Triage failing tests, isolate root causes, and distinguish product defects from test instability or environment issues.
• Contribute to performance, accessibility, and security testing efforts in partnership with specialist teams.
• Define and report quality metrics such as coverage, defect escape rate, and pipeline stability to both technical teams and client leadership.
• Mentor junior engineers and client team members on automation practices, code review standards, and test design.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, estimation, and sprint planning, advocating for testability in every story.
