Job summary

Tenable in Columbia, MD is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to bridge products and customers. Youll tackle real-world challenges in vulnerability assessment and compliance auditing, supporting multi-layered environments and helping close the Cyber Exposure gap.

Youll work with cross-functional teams, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to knowledge bases while staying current on Tenable products and security best practices. This is a hybrid role anchored at HQ in Columbia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience with networking (TCP/IP), Linux/Unix, macOS, Windows administration, patch deployment, and system configuration.
• Experience providing technical support to enterprise clients; network security experience a plus.
• Demonstrated interest in AI and Large Language Models with hands-on experience.
• Knowledge of computer, network, and application security; Nessus or similar tools a bonus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to learn quickly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; customer-focused mindset.
• Flexibility to work occasional weekends or holidays.
• Must be able to work hybrid/onsite at HQ in Columbia, MD.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Sales, Customer Advocacy, Research & Development, and Operations.
• Troubleshoot, analyze and address customer technical inquiries and ensure timely problem resolution.
• Use remote troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and correct issues.
• Analyze vulnerability scan results, system audits, and log events.
• Explain results clearly and provide actionable guidance to resolve issues.
• Recreate customer issues in a lab environment for engineering assessment.
• Capture and channel customer feedback into Product Management and R&D.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of Tenable products and information security best practices.
• Create and publish solution knowledge for reuse by customers and Tenable staff.
