Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks a Technical Editor to join our editing team supporting North America East Region offices with projects in multiple states. The role can be remote, hybrid, or from a Geosyntec office across the US, with overlap to Eastern Time for team needs.

The editor will review documents from engineers and scientists for clarity, accuracy, and presentation, applying standards and suggesting content improvements to meet client expectations and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in technical writing, English, science or engineering, plus 2 years of editing experience.
• Experience editing complex technical, scientific, engineering or environmental documents.
• Experience editing documents produced by multiple authors; primary reviewer experience preferred.
• Ability to identify missing material and improve clarity and voice.
• Strong grammar, formatting, and proofreading skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with project teams.
• Advanced Windows proficiency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

• Organize, review, and edit technical, business, and marketing material, following guidelines and quality plans.
• Apply scientific and engineering knowledge to ensure audience appropriateness.
• Proofread copy for spelling, grammar, clarity, and formatting; provide feedback to authors.
• Suggest revisions to structure, content, and presentation for effectiveness.
• Recommend layouts, graphics, tables, or charts to enhance objectives.
• Review documents periodically and coordinate with subject-matter experts on content changes.
• Stay current on developments in technical writing and publishing technologies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
