University of Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduler to coordinate operating room schedules and patient prep across multiple sites. You will work with surgeons, clinic staff and the Call Center to ensure smooth scheduling and timely communication.

Responsibilities include obtaining authorizations, managing MiChart data, and maintaining accurate schedules. A strong emphasis on teamwork and patient-centered service is essential in this fast-paced clinical

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior relevant training or work experience in scheduling.
• Understanding of insurance policies and medical billing procedures.
• Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other healthcare and scheduling software.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures.

Mansioni

• Schedule surgeries in accordance with patient needs, surgeon availability, and facility schedules.
• Organize and secure surgery dates for patients through direct contact in clinic or via phone.
• Coordinate and schedule pre- and post-operative appointments, follow up visits, and tests as directed by faculty/nursing staff.
• Obtain appropriate authorizations, medical clearances, outside medical records, and other required test results.
• Utilize the electronic medical record to create and maintain the surgical schedule and monitor capacity.
• Review calendars to verify available dates and maintain OR depots/waitlists.
• Cancel/reschedule appointments and enter referrals in EMR.
• Provide onboarding and training for new Surgery Scheduler hires.
• Generate reports on surgical volume and scheduling trends.
