Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Protection & Control Engineer to design protection and control projects for electric utilities from 12kV to 500kV. Hybrid work schedule with in-office and on-site collaboration across multiple cities and potential travel.

The role includes preparing drawings, studies, and reports, and advancing professional development through PE licensure support and leadership pathways.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of substation protection & control design experience.
• Senior/Lead level requires 6+ years of substation protection & control design experience.
• Experience executing substation protection and control projects.
• Ability to read/design substation protection and control drawings (one-line, three-line, AC/DC schematic).
• Willingness to travel to project/client sites and Portland, OR office as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design and planning activities for electric transmission, distribution, and substation facilities.
• Prepare single-lines, schematics, and wiring designs for substations; perform quality checks.
• Develop studies and reports for transmission and distribution systems.
• Lead, grow, and mentor a high-performing team; collaborate with clients and internal teams.
• Support project lifecycle from scoping to final design and implementation.
