Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Protection & Control Engineer to design protection and control projects for utilities from 12kV to 500kV. The role supports hybrid work with in-person days in Atlanta and travel to project/client sites, including Portland, OR as needed.

The successful candidate will have a background in electrical engineering, strong communication, and the ability to read and develop substation drawings and wiring designs. Growth, mentorship, and training are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related degree with 2+ years of substation protection/control design and/or field testing/commissioning experience.
• Senior/Lead level requires 6+ years in protection/control design and/or field testing/commissioning.
• Experience in executing substation protection and control projects.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with internal teams and clients to meet project needs.
• Ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings (one-line, three-line, AC/DC schematics) and wiring designs.
• Willingness to travel to project/client sites and Portland, OR office as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design and planning activities for electric transmission, distribution, and substation facilities.
• Prepare single-lines, schematics, and wiring designs for substations and perform quality checks.
• Prepare studies and reports for transmission and distribution systems.
• Contribute to a collaborative, growth-oriented team environment with flexible work arrangements.
